Architectural Design
2018 - 2023
Full design and construction coordination services for several building projects in New England:
- Turnpike House. A sustainable conversion project involving the transformation of a 70s-era home and pottery studio into a contemporary 2,500 ft² residence. Clients emphasized “keep the form, upgrade everything else.” Sustainable building practices, site-harvested lumber, and carbon accounting are integral to the design.
- 236. Located with picturesque views of the Connecticut River Valley, this 2,200 ft² farmhouse expansion emphasizes coordination of Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), storefront glazing, and long-span structural elements. The modern design aims for an open-plan lifestyle with a clear delineation of public and private spaces.
- 384. Located with sweeping views across Sothern Vermont and New Hampshire, this 800 ft² cabin emphasizes direct connections to nature. The enormous windows, and accordian-clapboard siding serve as a template for future artist retreat studios on the 44-acre property.
- Home for a Retired Superhero. This ground-up construction project features a 1,800 ft² home crafted from regionally-specific materials. The client, having concluded a career involving UN-related agricultural assignments in the Middle East, found a building site with sweeping agricultural vistas. The resulting design maintained a visual connection to their impactful past.
