Board meetings and the meaning of life

In several public presentations, Philosopher Daniel Dennett has offered his own description of the meaning of life. Paraphrasing, he advises to find something “bigger than you,” and to dedicate your actions to that purpose, that idea, or that inspiration. That’s hard.

But what makes it easier is to find folks who also recognize that thing you identify as “bigger than you.” I think that’s part of the reason it so rewarding to volunteer to help artist colonies. I share an admiration for the brave folks who strive to create something genuinely new. Making art is a risky. It is a pleasure to sit in a roomful of souls that know how precious that daring soul is. And to collaborate.

Plus, its fun to know and work with the New Yorker who owns the NY State license plate “GIVE2ART.”
